—Batgirl and Poison Ivy |
The Blunder Games (formatted "Blunder Games" on YouTube.) is the thirteenth webisode of Season 2 of the DC Super Hero Girls web series.
Development[]
The title is a pun on the book series and movie adaptation The Hunger Games.
Summary[]
In a Super Hero High helicopter flying over a lush jungle, Poison Ivy reminds Batgirl that they will soon be dropped in the "middle of nowhere" for their Advance Survival Skills final. When Ivy asks why Batgirl is not studying, Batgirl replies that she has will be fine thanks to her gadget-filled utility belt, the survival app on her phone and her artificial intelligence; Oracle.
As she activates Oracle, Principal Waller appears on a screen at the back of the chopper and explains to the students that in order to pass, they must arrive at the designated recon spot before sundown. She announces Batgirl as the first student to begin. Batgirl eagerly opens the doors of the chopper and jumps out, using her bat-wing gliders to safely land on the ground.
Batgirl welcomes Oracle to the jungle, who replies that "it's not all fun and games". Batgirl dismisses her concern and asks Oracle which way is north. When Oracle explains that she is unable to do that with no wireless signal, Batgirl uses her grapple gun to pull herself onto a nearby tree branch. As Batgirl realizes that she still cannot get a signal, she complacently remarks that she still has Oracle and all her gadgets. Suddenly, the branch underneath her breaks and she falls in a shallow river. She notices her comm braclet short-circuiting, making communication with Oracle impossible. She tells herself to make waterproof inventions, before getting up, and climbing over some rocks to get out of the river. She charges through some bushes and accidentally snags her utility belt on a branch, which rips it off, sending it flying deep into the jungle behind her and flinging her forward onto the ground.
Lying on the ground, she notices a vine and a branch, and uses them to make a makeshift grappling hook. She also fashions makeshift batarangs with wood and a makeshift utility belt with a vine. She crosses over a log bridge over a waterfall, and when she slips, she finds herself saved by her new grappling hook latched onto a branch stump on the log. She later finds herself being chased by a tiger, and throws a wooden Batarang at a tree trunk. She uses it as a step to jump onto the tree branches away from the tiger and remarks that that is why she is a dog person.
At the recon spot, the rest of the students have already made it. Supergirl uses her heat-vision to fry a kebab, while Katana firedances with roasted mashmallows in front of Wonder Woman and Catwoman. Principal Waller and Poison Ivy wait, with Waller looking at her stopwatch as time begins to run out. Just then, Batgirl emerges from a bush covered in mud. Waller congratulates her for passing and stops her watch. Ivy asks Batgirl what happened to her, who thanks Ivy for inspiring her to get in touch with some "super nature powers". As Batgirl wipes the mud off her face, Ivy and Waller look on in shock, as Ivy speculates that she may have also made contact with poison oak. Batgirl groans in frustration upon seeing her reflection and learning that her face is covered in red rashes.
